New Day Spa and Cafe Provide a Lavish Calvert County Escape with Southwestern Flair
Bronze Door Day Spa and Kokapellis Café & Espresso Bar Team to Create a Healthy Haven
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md - December 5, 2005 - What do Blue Corn Body Polish, Desert Rain Therapy Massages, Chai tea and Fruit Smoothies have in common? The Bronze Door Day Spa and Kokapellis Café & Espresso Bar in Prince Frederick. Since opening in October, this contemporary facility, located in the Fox Run Shopping Center, has been massaging the cares and feeding the spirits of both women and men.
Spa Owner, Nicole Tongue, says the venture is a dream come true for her. “I’ve always wanted to own a Day Spa, specifically concentrating on a range of body and facial treatments, nail services, spa packages and organic products,” she said. “With our Southwestern décor, soft lighting, soothing aromas and careful attention to body care using rich, custom-tailored treatments, we have created a place where people can truly escape and benefit from the rejuvenation that a spa experience provides”.
Spa packages run the gamut from the top-of-the-line “Signature Spa Package” that includes a massage, body treatment, facial, manicure, pedicure and light lunch - to the “Shamanic Touch” - complete with a soothing hot and cold stone massage. There is even a three-hour package for couples, the “Tucson for two”, which includes a facial, couples massage, pedicure and a light lunch. The spa’s “Menu of Services” also offers specialty facial services for aging and acne skin, herbal eye treatments, a foot bath and massage, the Sedona Mud Detox Wrap, waxing services and sunless bronzing.
Tammy Woolridge, owner of Kokapellis Café and Espresso Bar is happy to be part of the whole spa experience that customers enjoy when they come through the door. “My café and espresso bar helps complete the day for our clients,” she said. “From herbal teas, lattes and rich, hand-ground coffees to fresh salads, wraps, muffins and smoothies, I offer a variety of healthy food and beverage options. With my early morning hours - and the fact that we’re located on the northbound side of Rt. 4 - this is also a great place for people to stop on their way to work for that specially brewed coffee they need to kick-start the day.”
Tongue and her business partner, Jerry Cozzens, II have a strong philanthropic approach to their marketing and outreach efforts. Tongue said “We plan to host several events in the coming months to give back to the community, including a Day of Beauty to raise funds for women in Calvert County’s women’s shelter.” Cozzens said “I also want to provide a place where local artists can display and sell their works - so long as the designs are in keeping with our Southwestern motif.” In fact, even the Peruvian tapestries that decorate the facility’s walls are part of a program that provides funding to the South American Indians who handcraft them.
As for the future, Tongue and Cozzens already have their sights set on expansion. “We hope to one day be a chain, he said. “There is a true need in our area for spa-only services - a place where both women and men can feel comfortable enough to come on a regular basis to have their body and minds rejuvenated.”
